In "Binoculars," the fresh AAIS cohort of 2022/2023 undertakes an innovative exploration of theatrical creation, employing a blend of provocations and task-based exercises. These elements are meticulously drawn from Agustina Bessa Luis' seminal work, "Three Women with Iron Masks." The project offers an intimate examination of the characters' daily lives, intricately woven with elements from the performers' own personal narratives. The focus is on the quotidian aspects that frequently go unnoticed, yet hold layers of complexity and meaning. Through "Binoculars," audiences are invited to engage with the intricacies of everyday life, as interpreted and manifested through the lens of theatre. This venture serves as a multi-layered platform, wherein the actors' personal journeys infuse additional depth to the already rich tapestry of characters derived from Bessa Luis' work.
