Italian writer Italo Calvino's novella The Cloven Viscount is chosen as the script to design the stage costumes for the protagonist viscount Medardo. During the war, viscount Medardo was split into two parts by shells, half extremely evil and half extremely good. Good and evil were in a painful conflict of opposites. Later, because he fell in love with the girl Pamela at the same time, the two halves were injured in the duel and sutured to regain their complete body. This costume design piece primarily exhibits the characters' states and transformations through the direction of fabric modification.
